When someone asks when your baby is due, usually that is a good thing unless your baby is 18 months old, then you walk away crying. That’s where I was on Thursday at the grocery store when the lady behind me asked that question.
Can you relate to any of these?
All of these are the emotions I deal with on a daily basis. It is to learn How to Fix the Broken Mom Body with Diastasis Recti.
What is Diastasis Recti or Am I a broken Mom body?
I finally understood why I was in so much pain. I also was able to figure out why I could barely walk forget exercising.
According to BabyCenter, “That’s what they call it when the rectus abdominis muscles in your abdomen separate during pregnancy, leaving a gap that allows your belly to pooch out.
Studies show that about 40 percent of women have a diastasis at six months postpartum.
After pregnancy, a diastasis recti looks like a ridge or even a loaf of bread protruding from your midline. The ridge becomes more prominent when you’re straining – from coughing or sitting up, for example. It may disappear or cave in when you lie down or relax your abdominal muscles.”
Basically, if you still look pregnant 6 months after giving birth, then you more than likely have this problem.
I’m sorry to say it, but you are part of the 40% who are Broken Mom Body.
Still not sure, watch this short video.
Why is this happening to so many women?
My diastasis was 14 cm wide that 5.5 inches. It was BAD! My physical therapist said she had NEVER seen a diastasis as bad as mine, and confessed that I would probably need surgery as well as therapy.
According to WebMD, “Having more than one child makes this condition more likely, especially if they’re close in age. You’re also more likely to get it if you’re over 35 when pregnant, or if you’re having a heavy baby or twins, triplets, or more.”
So much is explained in the one sentence of what was wrong with me.
To say the least, it was depressing, but what should I expect delivering 7 children and all but 1 were over 8 pounds with 2 of them over 9 pounds, and I was over 35 when I had my last 3 children.
I was part of the Broken Body Mom’s club, just another statistic.
Will I look pregnant forever or how can I fix this?
There is always hope, for some, it may come with surgery, but for most, it will just take some good old-fashioned hard work.
I don’t know where you are on your journey to recovering your body from having your babies, but you need to make yourself a priority and Plan Your Self Care.
But you, like me, need a place to start, and that is where Fit2B Studio comes into the picture.
I needed an exercise plan that was tailed to me- a Broken Mom Body, because that’s exactly how I felt. My stomach was broken and those core muscles were so FAR spread that I felt like my insides were falling out.
All moms need exercise. We all want to be healthier, and some of us want to be slimmer. Finding the right exercise program that will help and not make things worse is hard.
That’s why I’m going to help you with Self Care Saturday- How to Fix the Broken Mom Body with Diastasis Recti using Fit2B Studio.
Fit2B has a step by step plan to help you go from barely being able to walk to healing your body and mind.
As Beth Learn, founder and CEO of Fit2B, says, “If you want to effect the biomechanical and chemical changes necessary to narrow your gap, you have to start believing you are worth walking taller, worth nourishing yourself with delicious and nutritious foods, worth getting enough rest, worth exploring your world with gentle movements that leave you feeling restored instead of ruined, and loved enough to be forgiven and set free thanks to Amazing Grace — not just for one day, but for the long haul.
Then your fascia will follow suit.”
Can this really help me?
Fit2B offers solutions, videos, courses, and training all geared to helping you get into shape while helping correct your diastasis and healing your heart of the negative emotions that go with not being in shape.
I start every day with my Foundational 5 Routine.
At first, I doubted it’s effectiveness, but two weeks later when I went to the grocery store for the first time since starting, I didn’t have to stop every aisle in pain.
That is all I did those first two weeks, the Foundational 5 Routine, and I made it through half the grocery store before I was in pain, instead of just a single aisle.
On week three, I added 3 short workouts while continuing my Foundational 5 Routine.
Week 4, I added a walking routine, as I wanted to build up my ability to do things with my children while continuing with my Foundational 5 Routine.
Then Week 5, I continued with what I was doing, BUT I also took my children to a local historical park, where I walked almost 2 miles that day. I had to stop a few times to rest, but I made it through the whole day.
It was during week 6 that I began to believe that I would be able to heal from being a Broken Mom Body.
On week 6, I did 2 workouts in one day and survived. I was sore by the time I was done and had to rest my back for the rest of the day, but I DID IT!!!!
What do they offer?
They offer a wide variety of workouts all while not only protecting your abs but helping you close the gap on your diastasis.
Short on time? There are timed workouts that will fit your schedule.
- 10 Minutes or Less
- 15 Minutes or Less
- 20 Minutes or Less
- 25 Minutes or Less
- 30 Minutes or Less
- 31 Minutes +
You want to work on your butt, they’ve got workouts for that.
How about your arms and chest, they’ve got something for that too.
Looking for cardio or bands, they’ve got you covered.
And if that isn’t enough, they have people that are specifically trained to help you with your workouts. Check out the Directory to see if someone is local to you.
How much does it cost and is it worth the money?
You know that I am all about getting the best bang for my buck, and they give more than I ever expected.
If you think about how much money you put into a gym membership, then they are just about equal.
The normal yearly membership will cost you $139, but that does NOT include the courses.
I know you are thinking, I can join a gym for less than that, but can you really?
Is the gym less than $10 a month, when you must pay for gas and babysitting?
Also, does the gym have workouts that are tailored to HELP your Broken Mom Body heal instead of becoming worse with exercises that are only going to continue to shred your already thin muscle tissues?
WHY? Because of the 60% of women who don’t have this issue. The gym is going to tailor the workouts to those women.
WHY? Because honestly, having diastasis recti HURTS! It hurts to stand, sit, sleep, and walk. What makes us think we can exercise?
So really, the gym even if it is a tiny bit cheaper, it isn’t going to help you heal your Broken Mom Body, because they just don’t know how to do it.

If I didn’t think this was a frugal way of How to Fix the Broken Mom Body with Diastasis Recti, I not only would have told you, but I wouldn’t have agreed to this assignment.

There is still a LONG way to go and will probably need surgery like my friend Amy from Raising Arrows talks about in her Vlog.
I do know that even after surgery I will need help in strengthening my stomach and Fit2B will be my first choice of home therapy.
