I don’t know many women who don’t want to lose weight. The amount depends on the woman, but we all want to fit into that seeming mythical size 6. Ok so maybe it isn’t mythical, but I haven’t been a size 6 since grade school, so it just seems that way. I’ve always been the kind of mom to either eat what I fixed my kids or nothing at all. While it works fine for children with high metabolisms, it’s not so hot for an adult. I knew I needed a change, and here are the 4 Amazingly Simple Tips to Lose Weight that I’ve found.
I don’t want another diet plan.
There isn’t a woman out there who doesn’t agree with you. It is hard enough to get things done around the house without having to count calories, points, or eating a frozen cardboard dinner. I was never satisfied, and was done far faster than the weight was coming off.
After not only not losing weight after my vacation, when I wanted to make a change, but putting on some weight, thanks to baby, I decided to make some small changes instead.
Not only have I dropped 10 pounds, but I’m really feeling better. My face is thinner, I’ve lost inches around my waist, and some of my clothes are falling off me. All this while being pregnant with baby number 7 at 41.
If I, sugar craving lady, can make these 4 Amazingly Simple Tips to Lose Weight work for me, so can you.
Tip 1: Find replacement for things you crave
My number 1 craving was sugary substances. I can’t replace them all at once so I tackled my main problem- Coca Cola. I had decided it was time to give it up, and let it go, but I had to have something to replace it.
In comes Good Girl Moonshine from Trim Healthy Mama. While this didn’t replace the caffeine, it did replace the bubbles. To sweeten it I use xylitol. I’ve been making a Mountain Dew flavor, and my kids are enjoying our version of Orange Crush.
I also refuse to let myself have anything other than water until I’ve had 6- 16 ounce bottles of water. I would chug them down, because I HATE warm water. My sister had recommended a tumbler that is like the Yeti, but ¼ of the price. I purchased 2 of them at Sam’s club for $20. I’m not saying don’t spend the money on a Yeti, my husband says they are worth the price. BUT my tumbler can keep my water cold for 18 hours. It is good enough for now.
I added a straw so it is easier to drink and my littles will come and ask for a drink, and they aren’t big fans of water, but will drink it if it is from Mama’s cup.
Tip 2: Get some energy
With my Cokes being my main source of energy while pregnant, I had to find something to replace that. I couldn’t sleep all day, well technically I could, but that’s not a great idea when you have 6 children who need you.
I am already taking a great Prenatal, but it didn’t seem to be enough. I’ve had to tweak what I do, but I’ve finally found a way to make it all work for me.
In the morning, I have a cup of coffee with Xylitol to sweeten it and use a flavored creamer. No one said it was perfect, but something must cut the bitterness of the coffee or I won’t drink it. I also add a little of our homemade vanilla. (Recipe coming soon. I promise it will be worth the wait.)
Before lunch, I have an alarm set on my phone to remind me, I drink my Pink Drink from Plexus, which is like drinking another cup of coffee. This is an all-natural plant based drink that has been approved by my OB doctors. With that I take a B Complex that I bought from Amazon. This is what gets me through my afternoon and makes it so I don’t need a nap. HUGE difference from before, where I’d sleep the afternoon away.
It is also balancing my blood sugar, so I don’t crave sweets as much anymore, making Tip 1 that much easier.
Tip 3: Heal your gut!
This is where Plexus has helped as well. I take an amazing Probiotic and BioCleanse that is healing my gut. I no longer wake up in the middle of the night, or seem restless. I’m getting sleep, but great quality of sleep and that has raised my energy on its own.
The Probio5 is killing the yeast in my gut in layers. While it is doing this, the BioCleanse is flushing the yeast from my body as quickly as possible. When the yeast started leaving it was HARD. Candida die-off can be a nightmare. For about a week, I felt like I had the flu.
BUT and here is the life changing thing. We’ve had a light case of a stomach bug, but nothing compared to the year before when we were all sick for 6 weeks. We didn’t leave the house for 6 weeks, except for Stephen who went to work and picked up groceries on his way home. It was a miserable time.
This year has been completely different. We are healthy while everyone around us is dropping like flies with this stomach bug.
Healing my gut has also helped with my sleep patterns. I not only go to sleep faster, but I stay asleep. By the end of the day, I’m exhausted and ready to sleep. Most nights, I’m in bed by 9pm, but I’m up by 6 am.
Tip 4: Meal Prep
Meal prep has not only been a lifesaver for me, but has allowed me to eat healthy with little to no effort on my part. The only way I’ve could consistently eat better is to spend some time doing meal prep.
For my kids this means making breakfast ahead of time. I don’t like to reheat my breakfast, and prefer it fresh. Lately, I’ve been drinking Plexus meal replacement shakes for breakfast. I’m satisfied and they taste great.
For me this means preparing lunch for myself, and this is my main point. Since I don’t like to reheat food, I love to eat a chef salad for lunch. I make enough to last my husband and I an entire week of salads for lunch.
Sometimes we will eat our salads with soup or even a wrap. Either way it is eating food like an adult and not the mac n cheese my kids are eating with their lunch, even though I love it.
4 Amazingly Simple Tips
There are so many more things you could do to lose weight, but these were so amazingly simple and have worked for me, that I had to share. Not only have they kept me from gaining weight while pregnant, but I’ve actually lost weight and felt healthier than I ever have in my life.
When it comes down to it, they will only work if you use them consistently. Weight loss requires change. Change not only diet, but mind set. You have to be willing to walk away from bad habits, and establish new healthy ones.
I’ve added my version of a chef salad, what I use to hold it, and what I do NOT put in it, which is as important as what I DO.
