I enjoy Thanksgiving food, but it is the time of giving thanks that means so much. I love the Christmas cookies and candies, but it watching my children open just the right gift that makes all the difference in the world to me. Now the food at New Years is by far my favorite. I LOVE appetizers. The idea of eating snacks, playing games, laughing, enjoying my family all night is just the BEST. In my search for food for Saturday, here are 22 Easy Crowd Pleasing New Year’s Eve Savory Appetizers, I thought I would share with you.
To party out or stay home is the question
I always thought the idea of attending a New Year’s Eve party with friends would be a blast, and the few we attended were fun. Our kids were able to play fun games, eat some amazing food, and just enjoy themselves with their friends.
As some one who is easily overwhelmed by loud crowds, they were hard for me. Not just for me, but my special needs son. That’s why last year, we stayed home like we did before we moved back home.
We made some amazingly yummy food, played games, ate, played games, ate some more, and stayed up to ring in the New Year. It was once again my favorite holiday for food.
My kids were calm, I was calm, and everyone had a smile on their face. It was a perfect evening, that I’m looking forward to doing again this year.
It is a lot cheaper to make 1 or 2 things for a party than for your family at home. The benefit of making food for home is that you know exactly what is in it.
We like many others I know, are on special diets. To keep certain people in my family safe, I need to know exactly what is in the food they eat. It is a little, ok a lot, embarrassing to ask what is in something, and then not eat it because of what is in it.
When I make food for my family, I know exactly what is in it. I can tailor our meal to the foods I know we can eat.
You could be thinking that my kids are just being picky, but that isn’t it. They would love to eat all of the other things other kids eat, but we avoid dyes like the plague. Bad things happen to my boys when they eat foods with dyes.
So, yes, it does cost more, but the cost is put up against the health of my family. I will gladly pay the cost. Also, when I make all of this food it lasts for 2 days, so that is 2 days of food that I don’t have to cook. Well worth it!
